About Carol

I help individuals recognize and explore the underlying beliefs, experiences, and emotional patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck.

My approach

I believe that effective therapy begins with trust, and trust is something a therapist must earn, not expect. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to walk into your first therapy session. Therefore, I work at a pace that feels safe for you, while also expanding and exploring perspectives that help in healing.

About me

I am a licensed psychotherapist and hypnotherapist who believes that meaningful change begins with self-understanding. My approach is grounded in the belief that people are more than their struggles, symptoms, or past experiences. I strive to create a warm space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change.

More background

If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?

"What Dreams May Come" is one of my favorite movies. It explores all the things that we universally experience: Grief, loss, mental illness, and love. It beautifully balances destiny (things out of control) and free will (things within our control). It also shows how human beings are partly responsible as co-creators for the heaven and hell we create on earth, and in the movie's case, after death. Like most good art, it played into my therapy style insofar far as making sure we all remember these are lessons we learn in life and we can judge a scene in our respective lives, but from the perspective of learning and transforming our mistakes, pain, and failures into wisdom, awareness, and freedom.

What does a first session with you look like?

My first session involves 3 main things: 1. Introduction 2. Expounding on the intake answers 3. Earning your trust. I understand how nervous clients can be in their first session. They are about to tell some very private things to a person they just met, so they are wise to measure me against what they need for themselves. Therefore, my first session involves creating the foundation that starts with me working to earn the trust of the client. Therefore, I encourage clients to ask questions, as well as share their philosophical framework, culture, background, expectations, needs, likes, and dislikes, all of which will help the client gather information to help them trust their own intuition about me.

Work history

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified CSW, and Marriage & Family Therapist and a Certified Meditation Instructor. Above all, I offer openness, understanding, and conscious listening, which leads to the insight needed to resolve uncertainties and distress. Through that perspective and enhanced level of insight, we can observe and refine thinking patterns, beliefs, and reactions. The goal is to clear confusion, noise, stress, and fears so that clarity is leading the path you desire.
