About me

I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a therapist. Naturally empathic, I was always the friend people turned to for support. More than 30 years later, I still find it deeply gratifying to help people through difficult times and see meaningful change in their lives. I earned my BA in Psychology and Master of Social Work.

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

I knew I wanted to be a therapist from a young age, as I am naturally empathic and was always the friend people would turn to. It has always been, and still is, very gratifying for me to be there for someone in need and see their positive transformation. With the goal of becoming a therapist, I received my BA in Psychology and my Master of Social Work. To receive licensure in Florida, I completed over 1500 hours of direct clinical work with clients and at least 100 hours of supervision. With a passion for helping people in a more holistic approach, I was motivated to earn my certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I specialize in working with adults and seniors with self-esteem issues, emotional eating issues, trauma issues, drug addiction/recovery issues, and co-occurring mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

My focus is on you and what you want to get out of therapy. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathic space where you can explore your own thoughts and feelings and feel heard and understood. I actively listen and assist you to raise awareness of conscious and unconscious processes and how they impact your relationships with yourself and others. I offer the opportunity for you to explore your concerns while learning healthy and effective ways to cope with intense feelings, resolve problems, and care for yourself. I use an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches tailored specifically to you. Evidence shows that the quality of the client- therapist relationship plays the most important role in the ultimate outcome of your therapy. I am committed to giving you the highest quality of care that best meets your needs. I offer both in person and telehealth sessions.

Work history

Lauren Rothstein is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Syracuse University and her Master of Social work from Adelphi University. Her passion for helping people in a more holistic approach motivated her to earn her Certification of Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Lauren has more than 28 years of experience providing individual and group therapy in both private practice and several leading treatment centers. She was a Primary Therapist and later a co-owner of the prestigious dual diagnosis treatment center, Lifeskills of South Florida; formerly named Lifeskills of Boca. It was there she developed various treatment programs and the Eating Wellness track to focus on all aspects of emotional eating issues. Lauren also facilitated Trauma and Emotional Eating groups in other local South Florida treatment centers. As a result, her patients come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of different life circumstances. She specializes in working with adults and seniors with self-esteem issues, emotional eating issues, anxiety, depression, substance abuse/addiction and early recovery support, LGBTQIA+ issues, stress management, and grief and mourning support.
