Questions about addiction often begin with noticing that a habit or substance is taking more space in your life than you want. This collection includes the WHO AUDIT for alcohol use, DAST-10 for drug-related concerns, PGSI for gambling, and IGDS9-SF for gaming. The phone and internet questionnaires explore other digital habits. These instruments ask different questions about use, control, consequences, or interference; their totals are not interchangeable measures of addiction.

Choose the screen that matches the behavior or substance you are concerned about, and consider the effect on your daily life alongside the result. Time spent alone cannot explain every pattern, and a questionnaire cannot decide whether a label fits. These educational self-assessments can help you describe what has changed or what feels difficult to control. They do not assess medical safety, replace professional advice, or tell you how to change substance use safely.

Addiction and habit tests FAQ

Which addiction test should I choose first?

Choose by the behavior or substance you are concerned about. AUDIT focuses on alcohol, DAST-10 on drug-related concerns, PGSI on gambling, and IGDS9-SF on gaming. The phone and internet tools have separate purposes. You do not need to complete all six, and their scores should not be combined into one total.

Does spending a lot of time online mean I have an addiction?

Time is one part of the picture, but it does not by itself establish an addiction. Work, access needs, social connection, and other circumstances can affect use. These questionnaires help you reflect on control and impact; they cannot decide whether a diagnosis applies or judge your habits from hours alone.

Can a result tell me how to stop using a substance?

No. A screening result is not a plan for changing substance use and cannot assess medical risks. If you are considering a change and are concerned about dependence or withdrawal, speak with a qualified health professional. Do not use a low score as assurance that making a sudden change is safe.

What if I am in crisis or need urgent medical help?

A questionnaire cannot assess overdose, withdrawal, or another medical emergency. Contact local emergency services if you need urgent medical help or are in immediate danger. In the US, call or text 988 for suicidal thoughts or emotional crisis. You can ask for support without first proving a problem through a score.
