What a listing includes.

One flat price. Everything on this list is part of it. Nothing here is an add-on, and nothing here can be bought by paying more. $49 a month or $490 a year, first 30 days free, no per-lead fees, no contract, no featured tier. The same terms every therapist on Psychology.com pays, and the same for every coach: no discounts and no founding coupon.

No per-lead fees, no contract, cancel any time. Ellaine on the directory team replies within one business day and builds the profile from what you send. Psychology.com has published reviewed mental health information at this address since 1995.

  1. 1

A coach profile on its own indexed page

At psychology.com/coach/your-name: your photo, an opening line, a "how I can help" statement, your focus areas, your credential line, certifications, education, fees, online or in person, and your city and state.

  2. 2

    A credential checked by hand

ICF ACC, PCC or MCC at the ICF registry, NBHWC NBC-HWC at the NBHWC directory, CCE BCC, EMCC EIA and AC at theirs. Your profile shows the result with its date, for example "ICF PCC, checked at the ICF registry on October 29, 2026", and we recheck it every six months. No registry credential? You can still be listed; your certifications then show as "Certifications (self-reported)", with no verified mark.

  3. 3

    A section of its own

The Coaches section is separate from the therapist directory. A coach never appears in a therapist list, and a therapist never appears in a coach list. Licensed therapists are listed separately.

  4. 4

    A capped list

We cap at 25 coaches per focus area per metro. A reader comparing career coaches in Denver reads a list they can finish, and your profile is on it.

  5. 5

    Inquiries straight to your inbox

Readers filter by focus area, location and whether you work online or in person, read how you can help in your own words, and write to you. The message lands in your inbox; the conversation is yours from there.

  6. 6

    An order nobody can buy

No featured tier, no pay-to-rank. Within members, the order follows the reader's filters, then verified credential, then alphabetical.

  7. 7

The scope commitment, on the profile

Every coach signs it at join: coaching is not therapy, counseling, treatment or diagnosis; no crisis care; adults only; clinical concerns go to licensed care; the profile reads as coaching and names no clinical method. The date you signed is shown on your profile, and under your name sits the line "Coaching, not licensed mental health care. For clinical concerns, find a licensed therapist." Readers know exactly what they are looking at, and so do you.

  8. 8

    Eight focus areas

Pick one to six: life, career, executive and leadership, business, health and wellness, relationship, ADHD and executive function, and financial coaching, each with its own page in the Coaches section.

  9. 9

A profile built for you, this first release

Self-serve signup for coaches is not live yet. Write to Ellaine on the directory team with what you want on the profile; she replies within one business day, builds it from what you send, and your 30 free days start the day it goes live.

Why the list is capped.

25

Coaches per focus area per metro, at most.

That is the whole rule, and it is the same in every city.

Your visibility in a directory is a fraction: one, divided by the number of profiles a reader scrolls past. Open directories grow the bottom of that fraction every day. We hold it fixed. A reader looking at the executive coaches in one metro reads a list they can finish, and your profile is on it.

When a focus area in a metro is full, Ellaine says so in her reply, and there is no way to buy a place on a full list. We do not promise leads, clients, rankings or a number of inquiries. We promise the list stays short, the credential line is checked, and the order is never for sale.

Side by side with the therapist directory.

The first 30 days.

$49 per month, or $490 a year. First 30 days free, nothing due until day 31. Cancel any time.

Self-serve signup for coaches is not live yet, so the first profiles are built by hand. Send Ellaine on the directory team what you want on your profile. She replies within one business day, builds the profile from what you send, and your 30 free days start the day it goes live. No discounts, no founding coupon: the same $49 for every coach.

Readers come to the Coaches section for a coach, not a therapist: the profile says which one you are, and what was checked.

Request your listing by email.

One email with what you want on the profile is enough. Ellaine replies within one business day, and your 30 free days start the day the profile goes live.

A licensed therapist? Therapists are listed separately, in the therapist directory: see the therapist membership.

How the first month works

  1. Step 1

    Write to Ellaine

Your photo, an opening line, how you can help, one to six focus areas, your credential, certifications, education, fees, online or in person, and your city and state. One email is enough.

  2. Step 2

A reply within one business day

Ellaine builds your profile from what you sent and tells you when it is live at psychology.com/coach/your-name.

  3. Step 3

    Your credential, checked by hand

Your ICF, NBHWC, CCE, EMCC or AC credential is checked against the issuing registry and shown with the date, then rechecked every six months. You sign the scope commitment, and that date goes on the profile too.

  4. Step 4

    Billing starts on day 31

Your 30 free days start the day the profile goes live. Cancel before day 30 and you are not charged. Then $49 a month, or $490 a year, flat.

Straight answers.

When does billing start?

On day 31 after your profile goes live. The first 30 days are free and nothing is due until then. Cancel before day 30 and you are not charged. From day 31 it is $49 a month or $490 a year, flat. There are no discounts and no founding coupon; the price is the same for every coach.

Why is there no signup form?

Self-serve signup for coaches is not live yet, so the first profiles are built by hand. Write to support@psychology.com with the subject line "Coach listing on Psychology.com". Ellaine on the directory team replies within one business day, builds your profile from what you send, and your 30 free days start the day it goes live.

What exactly do you verify?

Your registry credential, checked by hand against the registry that issued it: ICF ACC, PCC or MCC at the ICF registry, NBHWC NBC-HWC at the NBHWC directory, CCE BCC, EMCC EIA and AC at theirs. The profile shows the result with its date, for example "ICF PCC, checked at the ICF registry on October 29, 2026", and we recheck it every six months. The profile also shows the date you signed the scope commitment. We do not check government identity, insurance, criminal background, client outcomes, review authenticity, or specialties beyond the credential.

Can I be listed without a registry credential?

Yes. A coach without an ICF, NBHWC, CCE, EMCC or AC credential can still be listed. Your certifications then appear on the profile under the heading "Certifications (self-reported)", with no verified mark. Add a registry credential later and we check it and update the line.

What is the scope commitment?

A short commitment every coach signs at join: coaching is not therapy, counseling, treatment or diagnosis; no crisis care; adults only, no clients under 18; clinical concerns are referred to licensed care; and the profile reads as coaching and names no clinical method. The date you signed it is shown on your profile, and every coach profile carries the line "Coaching, not licensed mental health care. For clinical concerns, find a licensed therapist." under the name.

Will I appear in therapist searches?

No. The Coaches section is a separate section of the Psychology.com directory. A coach never appears in a therapist list, and a therapist never appears in a coach list. Your profile lives at psychology.com/coach/your-name and is found through the Coaches section and its focus-area pages.

What happens when my focus area is full in my metro?

We cap at 25 coaches per focus area per metro. If yours is full, Ellaine says so in her reply, and you can ask her to write to you when a place opens. A place on a full list cannot be bought.

Does paying get me better placement?

No. There is no featured tier and no pay-to-rank, and every listing in the Coaches section belongs to a member, so there is nothing to be listed ahead of. Within members, the order follows the reader's filters, then verified credential, then alphabetical.

How many inquiries will I get?

We do not promise leads, clients, rankings or a number of inquiries, and we would not trust a directory that did. What you get is a profile on its own indexed page, in a list capped at 25, with inquiries from readers going straight to your inbox.

Is this the Verified Coach mark?

No. The Verified Coach mark is a separate standard, parked for now, and the profile described here is the one it will sit on. What your profile shows today is the registry credential check, with its date.

Can I cancel?

Any time. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. When your membership ends, your profile comes off the Coaches section.

Do you take a cut of the clients I get?

No. No fee per inquiry, per client, or per session, and no percentage of anything. The flat subscription is the entire deal.

Be one of 25, on purpose.

A note on independence. Coaches on Psychology.com are independent professionals, not employees or agents of Psychology.com, and coaching is not licensed mental health care. A credential line reflects a check completed by hand at a point in time against the issuing registry and does not guarantee any outcome. We do not check government identity, insurance, criminal background, client outcomes, review authenticity, or specialties beyond the credential.
