About Adria

Are you someone who looks like you have it all together but feels overwhelmed on the inside? Maybe you’re constantly overthinking, struggling with anxiety, feeling burned out or putting everyone else’s needs before your own. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, perfectionism, grief, relationship challenges and major life transitions.

I also help high achievers, professionals and athletes who feel pressure to perform but struggle to find balance. Whether you’re feeling stuck, exhausted or simply not like yourself, we’ll work together to understand what’s happening, break unhelpful patterns and help you feel more i

My approach

My approach is warm, collaborative and practical. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and other evidence-based techniques to help you understand how thoughts influence your emotions and behaviors. We’ll identify what’s keeping you stuck and develop tools you can use in everyday life. My goal is not just insight, but real, lasting change.

About me

I’m Adria Hagg, LCSW, founder of Shiloh Hill Counseling. With over 13 years of experience and advanced CBT training at the Beck Institute, I offer warm, collaborative online therapy in Michigan, Colorado, South Dakota, New Mexico and Florida. I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a clinical interview.

More background

In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

We have all had unique life experiences and therapists are no different. I think it is important to not just nod and listen but also create trust and a connection. Within the therapeutic relationship, you will find safety in knowing that I have also had both beautiful and challenging life experiences. My goal is to normalize difficult emotions, feelings and thoughts and help clients create lasting change. This is just one chapter of our life story and I hope you will feel this is a non-judgmental place to share memories, tears, fears and vulnerabilities. Who knows, we may just share a laugh or two.

What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?

Trust and non-judgement are key components to a healthy and successful therapeutic relationship. Often, when we begin therapy, we often feel skeptical, apprehensive and even scared. It is important to normalize and validate these feelings. We are bringing our deepest thoughts, experiences, insecurities and vulnerabilities to the therapy. Therapy is not easy and I hope to bring humility, warmth, knowledge and trust to the therapeutic relationship. We are on this journey together. The road may have many twists and turns along the way, but I am here and present to walk with you.

Were there lessons in your professional or academic career that left an impression on you, and how has that informed your work today?

I have learned that being humble is a strength and asking questions is imperative. From the University of Colorado Hospital to the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos of New Mexico, I have learned to listen, ask questions and understand that one size does not fit all. We are all human and our life experiences can take us down unexpected paths. For example I have found that it is important to step back and realize that where Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is great for some, others may thrive under different therapeutic interventions. I have made sure to train in various evidenced based models so I am prepared to be flexible and tailor my approach to the client's specific needs. The point is, it is important to listen closely to clients, their needs, what is working or what is not working and be flexible with the therapeutic approach.

Work history

Adria received her bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and completed her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of Denver. She completed her practicum at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) Psychiatry Clinic. Throughout the course of her time at UCH, she did comprehensive diagnostic assessments, presented cases to a team of mental health professionals, built a solid caseload of individual therapy cases and successfully engaged clients in the therapeutic process. Adria also facilitated a weekly psychotherapy group, attended group supervision, grand rounds and weekly classes with residents to further enhance learning and growth.

Adria is a licensed LCSW in four states and has 14 years of clinical experience serving diverse populations in various treatment settings. She specializes in working with adults and utilizes a broad range of therapeutic modalities such as but not limited to motivational interviewing, psycho-education, CBT, strengths-based approach, DBT, grief work, and mindfulness techniques. Adria attended an intensive CBT training at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where the founder of Cognitive Therapy, Aaron Beck, led a forum. She also applies a holistic therapeutic approach for the purpose of encouraging clients to understand the connection between the mind and body.

Before working in the private practice setting, Adria was a clinical therapist for The Eight Northern Indian Councils to serve the Native American population. This work nurtured an appreciation for different cultures and customs; ultimately allowing her to tailor her communication approach to each unique situation. While working on the pueblos, she provided mental health therapeutic services to families, children and adults. Additionally, Adria directed a group at New Moon Lodge–an inpatient substance abuse treatment facility for Native American males.

Currently she is the founder and sees clients at her own private practice; Shiloh Hill Counseling. In her twenties, Adria was published as a food and travel writer for various local publications in San Francisco. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, writing, reading and escaping to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She looks forward to continuing to serve, develop and nurture clients within the therapeutic relationship.
