My work is focused on assisting people through life transitions such as relationship, divorce, anxiety, depression and career issues. My approach to therapy is non-traditional in that I am singularly proactive and focus more on change and transformation, and less on reductive analysis and causes. I have come to see that most people have a good idea of why they have become who they are.
The question of how do we get from here to there is the goal of my work. I have developed a model for personal transformation which is informed by the emerging sciences. I call this process Emergent Thinking(R) which enables people to come out of the groove of old thinking and old behavior, supporting the shifts of mind that move us forward.
I have encountered excellent success in helping people overcome chronic and acute struggles with anxiety and depression through this approach. I have written a book on relationships, The Art of Intimacy, The Pleasure of Passion and am currently writing, A Shift of Mind. My work in relationships is at the core of my passion and I have developed an effective and solution oriented approach to relationship challenges.
I have authored over 70 articles which can be viewed on my website, Melschwartz.com, as well as my blog, A Shift of Mind.
