About Mercedes
My work is person, thoughtful, and honest. I am both validating and encouraging towards change and being more comfortable with ourselves, scary parts and all.
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation and safety, and integrate trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy to help clients process painful experiences and rewrite their stories. I also teach adaptive living skills to individuals with ADHD, helping them build systems that align with their strengths and needs.
In family therapy, I work collaboratively to reduce conflict, improve communication, and support behavioral change in children and teens using an Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). Whether you're a parent feeling overwhelmed or a young adult trying to break free from cycles of crisis, I’m here to help you move toward stability, confidence, and lasting change. I offer in-person sessions in South Seattle and virtual therapy across Washington.
My approach
Therapy is not about fixing you—it’s about walking with you as you reclaim your voice, your confidence, and your peace. My approach is rooted in the belief that healing happens in a space that is respectful, consistent, and safe—a space where you can show up authentically and be met with compassion, not judgment.
About me
I am passionate about helping others and do understand how vulnerable it is to sit on the other side of the room as a person that has experienced mental health services, as a child and as an adult. I also come from a mixed background and understand the unique struggles for family and youths that presents. For more about my practice visit my website.
