About Carleton

Trauma can affect how we see ourselves, relate to others, and experience the world around us. Whether you're struggling with painful memories, anxiety, depression, emotional distress, or patterns that seem difficult to change, therapy can provide an opportunity to better understand your experiences and begin moving forward.

I specialize in trauma-focused psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), helping individuals process difficult experiences while developing greater emotional stability, self-understanding, and resilience.

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and attentive to your individual needs. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel understood, supported, and able to work at a pace that feels manageable. Through ClearSight Trauma & Behavioral Health Services, PLLC, I provide telehealth counseling to clients in Texas and Arkansas.

My approach

My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and individualized. I integrate EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies to help clients process difficult experiences, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop healthier patterns. I emphasize safety, thoughtful pacing, and meaningful, lasting change.

About me

With more than 15 years of experience in counseling, clinical supervision, and counselor education, I bring both clinical expertise and a thoughtful, compassionate approach to therapy. My work increasingly focuses on trauma and EMDR, helping individuals understand the impact of difficult experiences and move toward meaningful healing.

More background

About Dr. Carleton H. Brown

I have spent more than 15 years working in counseling and mental health, supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and significant life transitions. My professional background includes direct clinical practice, clinical supervision, counselor training, and graduate-level teaching.

My interest in counseling developed from a desire to understand how people respond to adversity and how earlier life experiences influence emotional well-being, relationships, and patterns of behavior. Over time, this interest led me to focus increasingly on trauma-informed psychotherapy and the ways individuals can move toward healing, resilience, and meaningful personal change.

I am an EMDR-certified therapist with advanced training in working with complex and developmental trauma. My approach integrates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and other evidence-informed strategies tailored to each client's needs.

I recognize that trauma and emotional distress can affect people in different ways. Some individuals struggle with painful memories or overwhelming emotions, while others experience anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or a persistent sense of being stuck. Therapy provides an opportunity to explore these experiences, develop greater self-understanding, and work toward healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

My therapeutic style is calm, thoughtful, and collaborative. I place particular importance on developing a trusting therapeutic relationship and creating an environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. I do not believe in rushing the therapeutic process. Instead, I work with clients to establish a pace that balances emotional safety with meaningful progress.

In addition to my clinical work, I have experience supervising and training counselors and teaching at the graduate level. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to thoughtful clinical practice, professional development, and evidence-informed treatment.

Today, through ClearSight Trauma & Behavioral Health Services, PLLC, I provide telehealth psychotherapy to clients in Texas and Arkansas. My goal is to help individuals better understand their experiences, strengthen their emotional well-being, and develop the capacity to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
