About Sheridan

I enjoy working with clients seeking help with symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and life transitions, as well as clients hoping to find a safe space to process difficult life experiences. I am trained to help clients navigate emotional overwhelm with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help when you feel stuck in life's hard places. I am also trained as a Women's Mental Health Specialist and am experienced in walking with women and their partners as they navigate reproductive struggles like PMDD, PCOS, and perinatal depression and anxiety.

My approach

My counseling style is grounded in compassion and a deeply client-centered approach. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported, and where empathy guides our work together.

About me

Hi there, I'm Sheridan. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate working with clients like you, both in person and virtually, from Rock Hill, SC. I love being a counselor; it's the best job in the world! When I'm not working, I love to cook with family, read a great book, work in my herb garden, exercise at my local gym, and play with my dog.

More background

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

My decision to become a counselor grew out of experiences that shaped both my compassion and my sense of purpose. As a young person, I watched my mother struggle with depression and often felt a deep desire to help her but lacked the understanding or tools to do so. That early helplessness stayed with me and eventually became a driving motivation to learn how to support others who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or hopeless. Over time, I found myself drawn to walking alongside people in their most vulnerable moments, offering the presence, guidance, and hope I once wished I could offer within my own family. These experiences continue to inspire my commitment to counseling and my belief in the possibility of healing and change.

In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

My personal experiences have deeply shaped the way I show up for clients. Walking with both of my parents through their cancer diagnoses and end-of-life journeys taught me how to sit with profound grief, uncertainty, and the quiet forms of resilience that emerge in seasons of suffering. Those years strengthened my capacity for presence, steadiness, and attunement to the emotional realities families carry. As a mother of three children who have navigated anxiety, depression, and ADHD, I have learned firsthand the complexities of supporting loved ones through mental health challenges—the trial and error of finding what works, the advocacy required in school and medical settings, and the importance of celebrating small steps forward. These experiences have cultivated a deep empathy for both clients and caregivers, and they inform my commitment to creating a therapeutic space that is patient, collaborative, and grounded in hope.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I view counseling as a collaborative process, empowering clients to draw on their strengths, clarify their values, and take meaningful steps toward growth. My clinical work integrates evidence-based practices—such as ACT, DBT, and somatic techniques—with a faith-informed perspective that honors the spiritual dimension of healing when clients desire it. This integrative approach allows me to meet clients holistically, supporting emotional, cognitive, relational, and spiritual well-being in ways that are both clinically sound and personally meaningful.

Work history

My experience in the mental health field began back in 1995 as a student at UNC Chapel Hill. I discovered I really enjoyed meeting with other students who came into the counseling department and also working as a research assistant for my department’s chancellor. After graduating in 1996, I coordinated with four psychiatrists and four counselors in private practice in Columbia, SC. I worked with patients who needed assistance setting up in-patient stays; I managed prescription refill requests, helped coordinate benefits for insurance coverage, and assisted patients with coordinating their mental health care with other specialists. After getting married and raising a family, I was privileged to get back into the field as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in 2025. I am now serving clients in my private practice, Evergreen Integrated Counseling, in Rock Hill, SC. I specialize in helping adults and adolescents seeking help with anxiety and panic, depression, grief, and life transitions. I am also a trained Women’s Mental Health Specialist, experienced in working with women and their families as they navigate reproductive struggles, perinatal mood disorders, relationship challenges, and developmental changes.
