About Angelica

Sometimes, the hardest part isn't knowing that something is wrong, but understanding why you feel the way you do or why certain struggles keep showing up in your life. You may be navigating painful relationships, unresolved trauma, anxiety, or a sense of disconnection from yourself. Perhaps you've spent years meeting expectations, taking care of others, or trying to build a life that looks right on the outside, yet something still feels missing.

I work with individuals and couples who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the experiences that have shaped them. Many of my clients are navigating cultural identities, immigration experiences, family dynamics, or significant life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply questioning what comes next, therapy can offer a space to make sense of your experiences and find new ways to move forward.

My approach

My approach is collaborative, insight-oriented, and culturally responsive. I integrate relational, strength-based, multicultural and trauma-informed perspectives to understand how your experiences shape the way you feel, think, and relate to others. Together, we work toward greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, and meaningful change.

About me

I'm Angelica Yinling Sun, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Luminous Mind in Los Angeles. I specialize in working with individuals and couples navigating trauma, relationships, and cultural identity. My work is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and a belief in people's capacity for growth and change.

More background

### A little about me

I'm Angelica, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Luminous Mind Therapy in Los Angeles. I work with individuals and couples who are navigating emotional challenges, relationship difficulties, trauma, and questions about identity, belonging, and the direction of their lives.

I have a particular interest in working with immigrants, international professionals, and people navigating relationships across different cultural backgrounds. At the same time, I believe that our experiences are never defined by a single identity or circumstance. Each person brings a unique combination of personal history, relationships, values, and hopes into therapy.

### How I think about therapy

I believe that understanding ourselves is an ongoing process. Our ways of thinking, feeling, and relating to others develop through our experiences, relationships, and the environments we grow up in. Some of these patterns help us navigate difficult circumstances, while others may eventually leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about who we want to become.

In therapy, I'm interested in understanding not only the difficulties you're experiencing, but also the meaning behind them. We may look at how your past continues to shape your present, how you relate to yourself and others, and how cultural or social expectations influence the choices you make.

I don't believe therapy is about finding a perfect version of yourself or eliminating every difficult emotion. Pain, uncertainty, and change are part of being human. What matters is developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and finding greater freedom in how we respond to life's challenges.

### What it's like to work with me

My style is warm, calm, collaborative, and thoughtful. I value genuine conversations and believe that therapy should be a space where you can feel understood while also being encouraged to think differently.

I'm not here to tell you how to live your life. Instead, we'll work together to understand what matters to you, recognize patterns that may no longer serve you, and develop new ways of responding to challenges.

Depending on your needs, our work may involve processing difficult experiences, understanding emotions, improving communication, navigating relationships, or developing practical strategies for everyday life.

I believe meaningful change comes not only from gaining insight, but also from finding ways to bring that understanding into how we live and relate to others.

### Beyond the therapy room

Alongside my clinical practice, I'm pursuing doctoral studies in Mental Health Leadership at the University of Southern California. My interests extend to clinical research, multicultural mental health, and how social and technological changes shape the ways people understand and seek support for their emotional lives.

I also provide clinical supervision and support the development of culturally responsive mental health services through Luminous Mind.

My work as a therapist, researcher, and clinical supervisor continues to shape my curiosity about people and my commitment to thoughtful, accessible, and meaningful mental health care.
