About

Struggling with troubling emotions: sadness, anxiety, fear, anger, trauma, or grief? Frustrated by relationships? Dealing with a medical challenge in yourself or someone in your family? Contending with the needs of aging parents? Feeling lost in a life transition? My approach to counseling is to match the therapy method to the client's personality and needs. Clients tell me that they feel that I am “in the room with them” working together to solve the problem with which they want assistance. My work includes solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, insight orientation and skill building. Life coaching, done on the telephone, with augmented EMaill support, is available for people who: Feel "stuck in a rut" Want to lose weight and adopt a more healthy life-style Struggle with disorganization Are overwhelmed by irritations Lack purpose or fulfillment Want their New Year's resolutions to "stick" I received my Masters of Social Work degree in 1975 from the University of Washington. In the years since, I have done psychotherapy in a wide variety of settings and have taught the counseling process to other professionals. I am licensed to practice counseling independently in Washington State (LICSW 00004357) and am also nationally recognized as a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. I received training in Life Coaching from the Institute of Life Coach Training, graduating in 2002, and am certified in that field.
