My style: warm, exploratory, supportive
I have extensive experience in guiding people to return to their natural state of psychological health and well-being. This state of equilibrium never goes away; it only becomes obscured through our learned patterns of thinking. About Robert
I have extensive experience in guiding people to return to their natural state of psychological health and well-being. This state of equilibrium never goes away; it only becomes obscured through our learned patterns of thinking. As a practitioner of Integrative Medicine, my approach is wellness-based rather than illness-focused.
Listening to physical symptoms can be very essential to the healing process. Creating a safe comfortable space I can be your guide to mental wellness. As you re-establish healthy thinking, you can tap into your own natural wellness.
My approach
My goal is for you to gain empowering insights that enable you to transform your life by paying attention to your own inner wisdom. This is truly healing from the inside out. "The key to a happy and fulfilling life does not come from focusing on our problems, but from consciously creating the lives we desire."

More background
Blending Psychotherapy, Science, and Spirituality Robert J. Solomon, M.D. is a board-certified adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist with extensive experience in guiding people to return to their natural state of psychological health and well-being. I completed my adult psychiatry training at Cornell University and have been practicing in San Diego since finishing a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UCSD in 1992.
I believe that our natural state is to be mentally healthy. This state of equilibrium never goes away; it only becomes obscured through our learned patterns of thinking. When people lose contact with this natural state, they can feel out of emotional balance and fall into a spiral of negative thinking. It is our thinking about the circumstances in our lives rather than the circumstances themselves that causes us distress. Each person has the ability to access this innate well-being at any moment regardless of his or her situation. Once we understand this simple but fundamental truth, change can occur.
“The key to a happy and fulfilling life does not come from focusing on our problems, but from consciously creating the lives we desire.”
There is always hope, no matter how great your distress or how long you have been suffering. We all have an innate ability to heal—and we all have the capacity to live our lives with greater ease, confidence and empowerment. In his 34 years of practice, Bob has worked with hundreds of clients, each with his/her own unique challenges including:
Depression Anxiety Stress Relationship Issues Family Issues Desire for Greater Fulfillment Finding Greater Satisfaction in Life Discovering Your Creativity Bob has been described as a gifted psychotherapist who is also a psychiatrist. He acts as a partner and guide to his clients as they gain self-awareness and learn to use their own intuition as a compass for their personal life journeys.
As a practitioner of integrative medicine, I understand the power of the body/mind connection. Taking time to listen to our physical symptoms can be very important to the healing process. Viewing the messages of our bodies as gifts can provide new pathways to greater self-knowledge and insight into the issues in our lives.
