About Barbara

I'm so glad you are here. I'm a licensed clinical social worker based in Frederick County, MD. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to expect. In our first session together, my goal is to create a comfortable space where you can talk openly about what’s been going on in your life.

We will work together to identify the challenges you’re facing and clarify what you would like your life to look like moving forward. We will work together to help you to gain a clearer understanding of your situation and practical steps you can begin taking right away.

My approach

I currently specialize in providing telehealth therapy to adult women 18–65 yr who are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem, burnout from career, family and/or relationships, and chronic health conditions. I also work with women navigating single motherhood, fertility struggles, complicated pregnancies, and postpartum mental health issues.

About me

My hope for every client is that therapy becomes a place where you feel supported, understood, and encouraged as you grow. I genuinely care about the people I work with and want to see them thrive. Ultimately, my goal is to help you develop the insight, skills, and resilience you need so that you can move forward healthier and stronger. You are never alone.

More background

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I have 20+ years in the mental health field at this point and have experience in a variety of setting as noted above. I have worked with people of all ages from children as young as 3 years old to adults up to 77 years old. I owe all of the skills and knowledge I have gained over the years to all of the beautiful, courageous souls who have allowed me to help them through their struggles, heal from unresolved pain they have been through, and teach them new and better ways of living and coping with life's challenges. I think I am different than other therapists because I truly enjoy helping people and listening. I care about my clients and want them to get better. I like to see my clients improve and no longer need therapy. Also, I try to make things as easy as possible for clients from scheduling, communicating with me in and out of sessions, and consistently being on time and available for when our sessions are supposed to take place. Therapy should never add stress to your life when you are already dealing with sometimes many other things.

Work history

Over the past 2 decades in the mental health field, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic techniques and methodologies from working in clinical out-patient and hospital based settings with children, teens, couples and adults. For the past 11 years, I've been doing private practice based work and have been primarily virtual since 2023. I attended the University of Maryland at College Park for my Bachelor’s in Psychology and then received my Masters in Clinical Social Work (with a minor in Program Administration) from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2001.
