About Kenny

Do you and your partner keep having the same argument, even when you promise yourselves it will be different this time? Maybe conversations quickly turn into criticism, defensiveness, silence, or another painful blowup. You may be walking on eggshells, feeling lonely beside the person you love, or wondering whether your relationship can recover.

The stress can follow you into sleepless nights, work, parenting, and the rest of your life. Couples often come to me when trust has been damaged, communication has broken down, or they feel more like adversaries than partners. You may still care deeply about each other but no longer know how to reach one another.

With the right support, you can understand the pattern beneath your conflict, speak and listen in new ways, repair past hurts, and rebuild closeness. Even if previous couples counseling did not help, a different path forward may be possible.

My approach

I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a research-based approach that begins with a thorough assessment of your relationship's strengths and challenges. Together, we create a clear road map for change. Sessions focus on interrupting harmful patterns, managing conflict, rebuilding trust, strengthening friendship, and helping each partner feel heard.

About me

For 25 years, I've helped people navigate the toll of relationship distress. I bring skill, steadiness, and compassion to difficult conversations so both partners can participate without blame taking over. Your relationship does not have to keep feeling this way. Schedule a free consultation to see whether working together feels right.

More background

Every couple arrives at a different point in their relationship. Some partners know they want to repair their connection but need help changing painful patterns. Others are facing a betrayal, a major rupture, or a decision about whether to remain together. I offer several forms of support so we can choose an approach that fits what your relationship needs right now.

My couples therapy work is grounded in the Gottman Method. We begin by assessing your relationship’s strengths and challenges, then develop a clear road map for therapy. Our work may include changing destructive communication patterns, managing conflict more effectively, rebuilding trust, strengthening friendship and intimacy, and helping each partner feel heard.

I also offer couples therapy intensives in Utah for partners who want to make meaningful progress more quickly than weekly sessions often allow. With extended, focused time together, we can work more deeply with the patterns driving your conflict, practice new ways of responding, and begin rebuilding connection. Intensives can be especially helpful when your relationship feels stuck, you’re facing a crisis, or weekly therapy hasn’t created the momentum you need. When one partner is uncertain about the relationship and the other wants to preserve it, traditional couples therapy may not be the right starting place. As a Certified Discernment Counselor, I offer a structured, short-term process designed to help couples gain clarity and confidence about their next step. Discernment counseling is not about pressuring either partner to stay or leave. It creates room to better understand what has happened, each person’s contribution to the relationship’s difficulties, and whether there is a willingness to pursue meaningful change.

I have also trained in Alan Fruzzetti’s DBT for Couples. This approach is especially useful when intense emotions, invalidation, or rapidly escalating conflict make productive conversation difficult. I incorporate skills for regulating emotion, communicating more clearly, and responding to each other in ways that reduce escalation and increase connection.

With 25 years of experience, I bring steadiness, compassion, and practical guidance to conversations that may feel difficult to have on your own. Whether you are hoping to rebuild your relationship, address an immediate crisis, or decide what comes next, I will help you approach that work with greater clarity. Contact me to schedule a free consultation and discuss which service may be the best fit.
