About Treye

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, and showing up as yourself. My style is warm, collaborative, and straightforward. I will support you, but I will also gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

I tend to be practical and transparent in my approach. I want you to understand why we are doing something in therapy and how it connects to the goals that matter to you. I also welcome humor, real conversation, and feedback about what is or is not working for you.

My approach

I provide counseling and assessment services for individuals seeking greater clarity, meaningful change, and a deeper understanding of themselves. My clinical work commonly includes anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, and concerns related to emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal functioning.

About me

Whether you are seeking therapy, diagnostic clarification, or a formal assessment, I strive to provide a thoughtful and supportive experience from beginning to end. My goal is not simply to identify a diagnosis, but to help you leave the process with greater understanding, direction, and confidence in your next steps.

More background

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable being honest, asking questions, and showing up as yourself. My style is warm, collaborative, and straightforward. I will support you, but I will also gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

I tend to be practical and transparent in my approach. I want you to understand why we are doing something in therapy and how it connects to the goals that matter to you. I also welcome humor, real conversation, and feedback about what is or is not working for you.

You can expect me to take your concerns seriously while also recognizing your strengths and the progress you are making. I do not believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I work to tailor our conversations and strategies to your personality, experiences, and needs.

Most importantly, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be open without feeling judged and where the work we do together feels meaningful, useful, and connected to your everyday life.

Work history

My experience has developed across clinical practice, counselor education, supervision, and rehabilitation counseling, which has given me the opportunity to work with people facing a wide range of personal, emotional, and life challenges.

My early training included both clinical mental health counseling and rehabilitation counseling, where I developed a particular interest in helping people understand how mental health, disability, work, relationships, identity, and major life transitions can intersect. That background continues to influence my work today, especially when helping clients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, career concerns, adjustment to change, and questions about how they understand themselves and their experiences.

Over time, my clinical work has expanded to include individual counseling as well as specialized assessment services, including evaluations related to ADHD, OCD, and career concerns. Working with clients in both in-person and telehealth settings has also allowed me to serve people throughout Iowa, including individuals in rural and underserved communities who may otherwise have difficulty accessing specialized mental health services.

In addition to my work with clients, I have spent many years teaching and supervising counselors. Teaching future therapists and providing clinical supervision has continually strengthened my own practice by keeping me engaged with current research, ethical standards, assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based approaches to treatment.

Today, I bring these experiences together in my work at Principles Counseling Group. My goal is to provide clients with a space that is thoughtful, practical, affirming, and grounded in evidence while recognizing that every person brings a different history, identity, set of strengths, and reason for seeking support.
