AuDHD Test (Autism + ADHD)

An affirming, educational screener for adults who suspect they may be AuDHD, meaning both autistic and ADHD. It looks at autistic traits and ADHD traits side by side, because the two so often travel together. It is not a diagnostic test. You get a plain-language read on each profile, a clear next step toward the autism and ADHD tests, and a professional PDF you can bring to an assessment.

Two neurotypes, looked at together rather than apart

Autism and ADHD co-occur far more often than chance, and the combination, increasingly called AuDHD, has its own texture. This screener checks both sets of traits at once, so you can see which parts of the picture fit and where to look next.

Methodology & sources

This is an educational screener, not a diagnostic test. It pairs nine autistic-direction statements with nine ADHD-direction statements, drawn from the trait domains described in the adult autism and adult ADHD research literature: for autism, sensory sensitivity, focused interests, social and communication differences, and need for routine; for ADHD, inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and difficulty with time and task management. Each set is scored on its own so you get a separate read on each profile rather than one blended number. The items are written in plain, affirming language, and neither score is a clinical cutoff.

Autism and ADHD co-occur far more often than would be expected by chance, with research by Rommelse and colleagues pointing to shared underlying factors, and more recent work by Hours and colleagues describing the distinct clinical picture of the combined presentation now often called AuDHD. Because no single brief instrument diagnoses the combination, this screener is designed to flag which profiles are worth exploring and to route you to our dedicated autism and ADHD tests and, ultimately, to a qualified clinician. We use affirming, strengths-aware language throughout, because both autism and ADHD are differences in neurology, not deficits.

AuDHD Test (Autism + ADHD) FAQ

What is AuDHD?

AuDHD is an informal term for being both autistic and ADHD at the same time. The two often co-occur, and the combination can feel like a tug-of-war, for example craving routine while also craving novelty. It is a recognized and increasingly studied profile, not an official single diagnosis.

Is this a diagnostic test?

No. This is an educational screener that looks at autistic and ADHD traits side by side. Formal diagnosis of autism and of ADHD is made by qualified clinicians using structured assessments. This tool can only tell you which profiles look worth exploring further.

Can you really be autistic and ADHD at once?

Yes. For a long time the two could not be diagnosed together, but that changed, and we now know they co-occur very commonly. Many people are identified with one and later recognize the other, which is part of why a combined screen is useful.

What should I do with my two scores?

Treat them as signposts. If your autistic traits stand out, take our autism test next; if your ADHD traits stand out, take the ADHD test; if both are high, both are worth exploring with a clinician. The dedicated tests go deeper on each profile.

Is being AuDHD a disorder?

Both autism and ADHD are neurotypes, different ways of thinking, sensing, and relating, with real strengths alongside challenges. Many AuDHD adults find that understanding both sides of themselves is clarifying and affirming rather than something to be fixed.

Is the test really confidential?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are never sent to a server, never stored, and never linked to you. No account is needed, and the optional PDF is generated on your own device.

Important: This AuDHD test is an educational screener, not a medical or psychological diagnosis. It cannot tell you whether you are autistic, ADHD, or both. Formal assessment is carried out by qualified clinicians. If your results resonate, our dedicated autism and ADHD tests are a good next step, followed by a conversation with a clinician experienced in adult neurodivergence. Both autism and ADHD are differences in neurology, not deficits.
