AI in Clinical Practice: Ethics, Consent and Documentation

Three hours of working guidance for the questions AI has already put in your practice: how to evaluate a vendor, what informed consent for AI tools needs to say, how to review AI-generated notes before you sign them, what to do when clients bring chatbot conversations into session, and where the fast-moving state rules stand.

What the course covers

  1. Evaluating AI vendors and tools
  2. Informed consent language for AI in practice
  3. Reviewing and signing AI-generated documentation
  4. When clients use chatbots: the clinical conversation
  5. The regulatory landscape, kept current

After this course you will be able to

  • Evaluate an AI vendor against a clinical and privacy checklist
  • Write consent language that covers AI tools honestly
  • Review AI-generated notes for accuracy before signing
  • Respond clinically when a client relies on a chatbot

Who this course is for

  • Clinicians already using AI scribes or drafting tools
  • Anyone whose clients bring chatbot conversations into session
  • Practice owners writing an AI policy and consent language

How it works

Self-paced reading with optional audio, case material worked in full, and short knowledge checks along the way. The course ends with a final exam (30 questions, retake allowed) and a course evaluation. Your certificate of completion issues immediately and stays downloadable in your account.

Common questions

Does it cover the new state AI laws?
Yes: a dated state-law register covering Illinois, Nevada, and Utah with precise scope notes, maintained monthly. Vermont is listed as pending full legal review, which is exactly what we tell you on the page.
Will it teach me which AI tools to buy?
No vendor endorsements. It teaches a vendor evaluation checklist: BAAs, data handling, output review duties, so you can judge any tool yourself.
I barely use AI. Is this premature?
Your clients use it. The course includes the clinical conversation for when a client relies on a chatbot, which is already a weekly event in many practices.
