FAQs
What happens to my ChoosingTherapy profile?
It comes off the ChoosingTherapy directory on 31 October 2026, along with every other provider listing. Your photo and details are copied here so they survive the shutdown. If you move before then, there is no gap.
Will clients find me through AI assistants?
Your profile page is public, indexed by Google and structured so that the AI assistants people now ask for provider recommendations can read it: name, specialties, location, insurance and the date of your verification. There is no login wall between a client, or an assistant, and your listing.
Do I have to be verified again?
Not by you. Your license details come across from ChoosingTherapy. We match your identity to the federal NPI Registry when you publish, and our license queue checks your state board and dates the result on your profile. You do nothing for that.
I am already on Psychology Today. Why both?
Because exposure is a fraction. On a list of hundreds of thousands, one profile is easy to miss. Here you are one of a few hundred, on a domain that has carried this exact question since 1995.
Is the $35 rate permanent?
Yes, for as long as your membership stays active. It is a rate for ChoosingTherapy providers who join before the directory closes. After that, new members pay the standard $49.
What if almost nobody in my state is listed yet?
Then you are one of the first your state's clients see. The list is short by design, and clients filter by specialty, state and insurance.
What stays on ChoosingTherapy?
The articles, tests, worksheets, and the state and insurance pages. ChoosingTherapy stays ad-free.
Can I cancel?
Anytime. No contract, no cancellation fee. When your membership ends, your profile comes off the directory. Rejoin later and it is restored, though the ChoosingTherapy rate is only for those who joined before 31 October.
Do inquiries really come straight to me?
Yes. A client who wants you contacts you through our form; the message is stored encrypted and emailed to you directly, with their address as the reply-to. Nothing is re-routed to another provider or a platform booking flow.
Does paying get me better placement?
No. No member can pay more to outrank another. Members are listed ahead of unclaimed legacy listings; within members, results follow the client's filters, never payment.
Do you take a cut of the clients I get?
No. No fee per referral, per client, or per session, and no percentage of anything. The flat subscription is the entire deal.
