Mrs. Rivers has Degrees in Psychology with an emphasis on counseling. She is a South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Also, Mrs Rivers is a Certified Addiction Specialist and a Board Certified Professional Counselor.

Mrs. Rivers has over 16 years of direct counseling experience in a variety of settings. Mrs Rivers has a broad base of experience with all age groups and she has had experience and is skilled in working with all DSM- IV disorders.

For many years she has owned and operated a private counseling practice where she provides counseling to individuals, families, couples, groups, addiction counseling, as well as providing crisis and medication management, and education and prevention programs.

Mrs Rivers has a broad base of experience in the areas of: individual counseling, family counseling, marital counseling, child and adolescent counseling, group counseling, addictions counseling, crisis management, medication management, psycho-education, behavior modification, intensive in home services, research, program development, coordination of care, case management, supervision, marketing, advertising, and management.

Mrs Rivers has been married for over 20 years, has two grown daughters, and four wonderful grandchildren.

Mrs Rivers embraces an eclectic approach to counseling. In other words, her style is a combination of many techniques, some of which include cognitive therapy, rational behavior therapy, Gestalt techniques, free association, rational emotive therapy, short-term psychodynamic therapy, and others.

Mrs. Rivers offers distance counseling online through this site and/or distance counseling via online or telephone through her private office. She also offers face-to-face counseling in her office.

Those people who choose online sessions have the most flexibility for a very reasonable cost. Phone and live chat counseling are also quite flexible, but do require a commitment to a specific time slot, so are a bit more expensive.

Arranging distance counseling requires an introductory phone call in which you and Mrs. Rivers determine which modality is best suited to your needs (online, face-to-face, or phone). There is no charge for this short call.
